Claremont, NH – December 20, 2016 – In a contest open to any senior NH or VT Respiratory Therapy (RT) student judged by a panel of distinguished RT professionals from across the country, Steven Zackowski, a senior Respiratory Therapy student at River Valley Community College (RVCC), has won the top award for his submission.
Advocacy and professional excellence are the hallmark of professional societies and with a mission to “represent and encourage excellence in the art and science of cardiopulmonary support” the Vermont / New Hampshire Society for Respiratory Care (VTNHSRC) is no different. RVCC faculty and students participated in the VTNHSRC’s Annual Meeting this past September at the Killington Resort in VT and are pleased to announce Zackowski’s success.
“The Annual Meeting was a great co-curricular learning opportunity for our students and we couldn’t be more proud of Steven’s accomplishment,” said Kevin Krawiec, Program Director for RVCC’s Respiratory Therapy Program, “Every year I look forward to great successes from our RT students and they never disappoint.”
Zackowski’s winning poster was entitled “Surfactant Delivery: Is it Time for a Change?” In addition to recognition, Zackowski has also been awarded a $500 gift from the VTNHSRC. The annual conference, alternating in location between NH and VT, is designed to keep area Respiratory Therapists up to date in an ever changing medical field. Continuing education credits used to maintain licensure are granted to all those in attendance.
The Respiratory Therapy Program at RVCC is nationally accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) and is currently accepting applications for the fall 2017 class. Please call Kevin Krawiec M.Ed., RRT at 603-542-7744 ext. 5414 for more information or to set up an interview.
