River Valley Community College is pleased to announce that the Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) program has been granted accreditation until 2026 by the Commission on Accreditation in Physical Therapy Education (CAPTE). The program underwent an accreditation review at the end of 2015. CAPTE is responsible for accrediting nearly 100% of all Physical Therapy and Physical Therapist Assistant programs in the country.
“We are thrilled with the results of the national licensing examination, and it is exciting to have these graduates become our colleagues in the Physical Therapy profession!” stated Laurie Clute, PTA Program Director.
River Valley Community College has hosted the PTA program since 1976 and has graduated an estimated 400 students. As of spring 2016, it is the only PTA program in New Hampshire and Vermont. The majority of graduates have remained in New Hampshire and surrounding New England states, and work in hospitals, rehabilitation centers, long term care facilities, home health agencies, private practices and school systems. Many graduates have also continued their education and have become Physical Therapists, Athletic Trainers, or Massage Therapists.
Eight of the nine graduates from May 2016 passed their national licensing examination in early July, thus adding to the data of 100% passing rate for the past three years.
