CLAREMONT — On Friday morning, representatives from Eversource Energy (formerly PSNH) presented River Valley Community College (RVCC) officials an energy rebate check in a presentation held in the college's library. The rebate is the result of energy efficiency work the college had performed.
Eversource Energy has a variety of rebate programs to help businesses and municipals improve the efficiency of their facilities and operations and to manage their energy costs.
“The college earned the rebate through energy efficiency. We have funding for those who meet our parameters for businesses and municipalities,” said Anne Karczmarczyk, Marketing & Conservation Program Administrator at Eversource Energy, said in an interview following the presentation.
RVCC earned a rebate of $90,847 for installing energy efficient lighting, sensors, variable frequency drives, and a dedicated outdoor air system. These measure will save RVCC approximately $26,000 annually on their electric bill.
Dr. Alicia Harvey-Smith, president of RVCC, is excited about working with Eversource Energy.
“In terms of working with Eversource Energy, we’re excited about the partnership. We’re looking to put the funds directly back into the school to continue making improvements on campus to enhance the teaching and learning environment and support student success,” she said in an interview following the presentation.
This is not the only project Eversource Energy will be doing with RVCC.
“When I delivered the check to Matt Perron, we started talking about the next project,” said Karczmarczyk. The details of the project are to be released at a later time.
