STAR Machinist Career Fair

To be considered for the CNC Machinist Star Program, please complete the Applicant Interest Form.  A mandatory Orientation Program will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2014 at the Hypertherm Technical Training Institute at 325 Mount Support Road in Lebanon, NH. After your completed interest form is received, we will send your orientation session time.

Introduction

The River Valley Community College CNC Machinist STAR Program is an intense education program to prepare individuals for employment. It includes a New Hampshire state-registered apprenticeship program. Our unique model addresses the education and training needs of potential employees and the need of employers for an assurance of productivity before hiring inexperienced workers. The CNC Machinist Training program has demonstrated success in educating and employing individuals who have the aptitude for, but no prior experience in a technical field.

Admissions

All applicants must be 18 years of age or older and have a valid high school diploma or GED.

Coursework

Advanced Machine Tool Technology: Required courses are completed during the nine-week RVCC total immersion program.

The CNC Machinist STAR Program runs for nine weeks, 40 hours per week. Graduates of the nine-week Program are awarded an Advanced Machine Tool Technology Certificate and 28 credits towards an Associates Degree in General Studies from RVCC. Participation in the Program includes a two year US Department of Labor apprenticeship program leading to a US/DOL Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship as a CNC Machine Operator.  Course descriptions can be found in the River Valley Community College’s catalog (http://www.rivervalley.edu/).

Instructors

All instructors are fully qualified to educate the students in the competencies required for successful completion of the River Valley Community College Advanced Machine Tool Technology Program.

Tuition Funding and Refunds

For those accepted into the program all tuition, materials, books, and fees are paid for before course work begins and the funding source must be identified. All tuition is covered for those who are hired by Hypertherm. Other students must qualify for federal tuition assistance programs. Student Records and Credit Transfer

River Valley Community College and the Community College System of New Hampshire will maintain the transcripts and grades for each student. Credits earned through this program at RVCC are transferable to another school only at the discretion of the receiving school.
