Overview

The Direct Entry is a program is for Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) students who have graduated from RVCC within the past two years only.

The RVCC Direct Entry Program provides a unique opportunity for RVCC’s LPN graduates to apply to our RN program. The LPN-RN Direct Entry Program is offered at the Claremont or Keene campus.

It is a highly competitive program with  limited spaces available. Selection is based on:

  • Successful completion of the RVCC LPN Program within the past two (2) years
  • Successful completion of the NCLEX-PN licensing exam.
  • Grades for PN nursing courses.
  • Completion of required core liberal arts courses.

Program Specific Requirement

Consideration for acceptance to the LPN-RN Direct Entry Program will be based upon the following, with applicants ranked according to:

  • Passing of the NCLEX-PN licensing exam.
  • Grades for the PN courses.
  • Completion of required core liberal arts courses.

The preferred deadline for applications to the LPN to RN Direct Entry Program is December 31st  each year. Applications will be reviewed until all seats are filled or March 1st. Acceptance decisions will be made by April 1st with applicants being notified at that time.

Applicants who have been accepted must complete the following Core Liberal Arts requirements prior to starting into the Direct Entry program:

  • College Composition
  • Math elective (3-4 credits)

If an accepted student has not completed the above noted coursework by August 15 of the accepted year, their offer of admission will be rescinded.

The following courses are co-requisite courses of the RN program. It is highly recommended that they be completed prior to starting the nursing courses.

  • Microbiology
  • Humanities /Fine Arts/World Language Elective elective

Should you require advising related to coursework planning, please reach out to Denise Ruby [email protected] to discuss your options.

For those students who are not admitted to the Fall following the December completion of the LPN program, applications will be accepted and considered for the following Fall Direct Entry cohort. Students must meet the above requirements and be working as an LPN.

Flu vaccines are mandated by the clinical sites and are therefore required by a specified date during the fall semester of all nursing programs at RVCC.
